The fungus that causes White-nose Syndrome (WNS) has been detected in low levels in California for the first time. Fungal DNA of Pseudogymnoascus destructans (Pd) was detected in swab samples collected from bats on private land in the town of Chester near Lassen Volcanic National Park in 2018 and 2019. The announcement from California Department of Fish and Wildlife is here. Note that this is only a detection of the Pd fungus, and no actual cases of WNS have been found in California yet.
There has still been no positive detection of either Pd or WNS in Colorado yet, but both Wyoming and South Dakota have reported positive tests in the last year, so it is still spreading.
