Colorado Cave Survey meeting Nov. 15, 2023

White Nose Syndrome fungus detected in Idaho

Idaho Fish and Game biologists have announced that Pseudogymnoascus destructans, the fungus that causes the deadly White Nose Syndrome disease in many bats, has been detected for the first time now in Idaho. Colorado Cave Survey meeting January 20th, 2022

The next CCS meeting will be January 20th, 2022, at 6:30pm. The meeting agenda includes a long list of cave updates, project status changes, and officer elections. Updated USFS R2 cave closure order

Region 2 of the US Forest Service (which includes all of Colorado) has issued an updated order R2-2021-02 concerning prohibitions and restrictions on cave access. This mostly concerns seasonal cave closures to protect bats from spread of WNS. The text of the order is also available from the USFS web site.
