The previous USFS Forest Service WNS management policy implementation order concerning cave access on National Forest lands in Colorado just expired. The new superseding order has now been released by USFS Region 2. It is now one order covering all caves in R2, not just single states or forests. The new order will be in effect from August 1, 2019 until July 31, 2021.
The new order is very similar to the previous White River National Forest order, nearly word for word identical for the most part. The registration and permit system appears to be essentially unchanged. There are some changes in the list of Colorado caves with seasonal bat closures and the associated dates. Details can be found on the CCS Closed or Restricted Access List web page.
